GOLD AT THE EUROPEAN YOUTH TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

ETTA CONFERENCE AND VOLUNTEER/CLUB AWARDS DINNER

"PARTNERS TOGETHER" - 15/16 SEPTEMBER 2007

The ETTA are set to take over Lilleshall for the National Conference and Volunteer/Club Awards Dinner on 15/16 September 2007.

The conference this year will have a regional theme, with a mix of keynote speeches and topical updates. "Down time" is built in to give delegates an opportunity to talk to each other, ETTA officials and staff.

We are very fortunate to have two major keynote speakers address the conference; UK Sport Chair Dr. Sue Campbell CBE and Paralympic Gold Medallist Marc Woods, and with the National Volunteer and Club Awards taking place on the Saturday evening, it is an event not to be missed.

The conference has been heavily subsidised by the ETTA Tom Blunn Fund for Administrators, and costs just £39.95 per delegate (inclusive of VAT, Saturday night
accommodation, all meals, refreshments and conference materials).

Registrations will be accepted on a first come first served basis as it is anticipated that the conference will be over subscribed.

EVANS WINS GOLD IN BELGRADE

Gavin Evans has brought home a gold medal after winning the boys singles title at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Belgrade.

Gavin, still only 14 and the ETTA’s Most Improved Player of the Year, beat  Lauric Jean from Belgium, in a seven game thriller in the city’s Pionir Hall.

Besides being a good result for Gavin it also proved that the young Nottingham player has not only the ability but also mental agility, so important when matches go to seven games and when the pressure is on.

Like an earlier match against another Belgium player Cedric Nuytinck, a match that also went the full distance, this was to prove a tough one with the match ending  11-9 11 3 9-11 7-11 7-11 11-8 11-8 in Gavin’s favour....>more

NATIONAL JUNIOR & CADET LEAGUES 2007-2008

Entry forms for the highly successful National Junior and Cadet Leagues are now available to download from the ETTA website home page.

Since the leagues formation in the late 90's, the competitions have gone from strength to strength and proved an ideal format for clubs and schools looking to offer local competition to their young players.

For many, these competitions are the first taste of competitive play and are an ideal tool to encourage young people to develop their match play.

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER AWARDS 2007

As table tennis clubs throughout the country continue to develop and expand, volunteers are giving more time than ever to help develop the sport. I am sure we can all think of volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty, or give their time and expertise selflessly week after week.

Volunteers are the backbone of our sport, and the ETTA National Volunteer Awards are a great way of recognising and celebrating the efforts of volunteers in our clubs, leagues and schools. If you think someone in your club or league deserves recognition click here to download the nomination form, fill it in and return it as soon as you can. The closing date has been extended to 13th August 2007.
